About
I used to stand in the grocery store, overwhelmed—reading labels, Googling ingredients, wondering if I was really making the best choices for my family. I wanted food I could trust without hidden chemicals, preservatives, or misleading claims.
That’s why we built Porky Pastures. As a homeschooling, homesteading family, we made it our mission to raise clean, pasture-raised meats—free from pharmaceuticals, GMOs, corn, and soy—so moms like you don’t have to second-guess what’s on your dinner table.
Now, we’re not just raising food—we’re teaching others how to source and produce truly nourishing food for their families. Whether you're here to buy better food or learn how to raise it yourself, you’re in the right place.
How We Became Farmers
We didn’t plan on becoming full-time farmers. In 2017, we were living what was supposed to be the dream—Tom had a government job, I ran a busy real estate business, and we had just moved into our forever home. But when it came to food, we felt uneasy. Labels were misleading, and trust was hard to find.
I had grown up farming, so I knew what real food was supposed to be. Tom, on the other hand, had zero experience—but that didn’t stop him from throwing out a wild idea: “Let’s buy a farm.” A big one. I laughed, but before we knew it, we had traded suburbia for 75 acres and a 300-year-old farmhouse.
We jumped in, raising animals, growing food, and building a life around clean, honest food. By 2021, it was clear—other families wanted the same thing. That’s why we started Porky Pastures—providing pharma-free, pasture-raised meats and teaching others how to do the same.
Now, we’re here to help you skip the guesswork and feed your family with confidence.
Our Big Move
These mountains have long held a special place in our hearts. After years of enjoying visits, camping trips, and vacations here, we made a bold decision to relocate our entire farm and family to South West Virginia.
Whew—what an adventure it turned out to be! The details are intense, but in 2023, we listed our beloved farm, found a buyer, and completed the sale in December. It was an emotional rollercoaster that pushed us to our limits.
But we made it!
Now settled, we reflect on our journey with gratitude. South West Virginia feels like home, and the warm welcome and overwhelming support from the community have been truly heartwarming. We are filled with appreciation for this new chapter.
Thank you for being part of our story!
